On November 30th, Congressman John Joyce, who represents Pennsylvania’s conservative 13th District, joined seventy-nine other squishy Republican moderates and every House Democrat in passing HR 550, The Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act, a bill designed to fund a Federal Vaccination Database. The bill provides $400 million to fund, in the language of the bill, “immunization system data modernization and expansion,” a system defined as “a confidential, population-based, computerized database that records immunization doses administered by any health care provider to persons within the geographic area covered by that database.” In other words, the goal of the bill is to give the feds visibility of who is vaccinated and who isn’t.
Joyce’s vote was originally reported by Breitbart and other conservative outlets, and was the topic of an op-ed published December 9th in the Chambersburg, PA Public Opinion. Joyce took great pains not to publicize his vote, but the news got out anyway, prompting a good deal of backlash from his conservative constituents and forcing Joyce to show up on local radio as well as a telephone townhall to defend his indefensible collaboration with the left. His defense was the usual belittling of his constituents and those who broke the news about his vote, saying that opposition to the vote was all based on “misinformation and lies”.
Joyce also made statements such as “the bill doesn’t even mention Covid19 or vaccine or mask mandates”…..well of course! The left never comes out into the open and admits what they are up to and wouldn’t call the bill something like “The national Covid vaccination surveillance bill” or similar. Joyce continues to lie stating that he will “continue to fight for your medical privacy rights” even after he voted to flush those rights down the toilet.
What Joyce won’t explain is why the only Republicans who voted for the bill are the Liz Cheney, Brian Fitzpatrick and Adam Kinzinger type. Not a single conservative Republican supported the bill…not one. The roll call for the vote can be FOUND HERE.
Right now, your choice to take any of the Covid19 vaccinations is part of your personal and private medical record, protected by law. While government can get statistical data on the numbers of people who are vaccinated, it has no need to know the name, address, and any other personal data of anyone who makes the personal choice to get or refuse the vaccine. Under the bill just passed with the vote of John Joyce, all those private medical databases would be linked, which would enable present or future political tyrants to have a list of all of those who chose not to get vaccinated, and you can bet that they don’t intend to use that list to send out Christmas Cards. The bill’s sponsor, Ann Kuster (D-NH), said the system would be used to “remind patients when they are due for a recommended vaccine” and identify areas with low vaccination rates to “ensure equitable distribution of vaccines.”
Congressman John Joyce squeaked by in an 8-way primary race in the 2018 GOP primary, thanks to the influx of PAC money to his campaign, and there is little surprise that he joined the likes of Nancy Pelosi, “The Squad”, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell in opposing every conservative Republican in Congress on this bill. A look at his campaign finance reports reveal that Joyce is a typical “bought and paid for” big-government politician who is rolling in PAC money from medical insurers and associations. He has claimed to be a pro-Trump Republican on one hand but on the other has supported the campaigns of Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump, such as Rep. Fred Upton, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, Rep. John Katko, and Rep. David Valadao. He also naively took part in a stage-managed meeting with Joe Biden by going to the White House cap-in-hand earlier this year when his big money contributors pressured he and other Republicans to “play ball” with the new administration, giving cred to the falsehood that Biden was trying to work with Republicans.
In 2018, Joyce was able to narrowly defeat several good conservative Republican candidates who split the primary vote, so perhaps it’s time for a single conservative Republican challenger to come forward and take him on next year. With vulnerable establishment Republicans jumping ship across the nation in 2022, Franklin County and the rest of the 13th District need to elect someone who will support our conservative values.
John Joyce needs to be added to the list of RINOs to be thrown out of office next Spring to make room for true conservative lawmakers.
